For us Hetalia fans who know the series is not accurate to history and are not among the mass of insane yaoi fangirls, but history lovers who like an irrelevant show :3
I personally did not get into history because of Hetalia, I've had a growing interest for many years now. And I've only recently gotten really into it because of random researching, TCM, and great history classes.
Hetalia is just a fun anime on the side, with little truth to it, but regardless, it's cute and fine as a webcomic (I honestly don't like the anime XD; ). I mostly use it as an inspiration to my art, not my history love.
I also think there's nothing wrong with liking history after Hetalia, because you watched/read it and were inspired to look into actual facts. Everyone has to start somewhere, you know?

I find that Hetalia helps me to understand mapping videos. It would also help a visual learner understand history and geography, as they could put a face to a name for example, Ivan and Russia. But, I wouldn't recommend it as a replacement for your history or geography book, or a replacement for just research in general.
